A Mobile home refers to a prefabricated home, which is built in factory, instead of a site. It is thereafter taken over to a place where they would be occupied. These homes are generally transported through tractor-trailers over the public roads at sites that are typically in rural areas or in high-density development areas. In a few countries these homes may also be used for the purpose of temporary accommodation on the campsites.
Now, while these houses are generally placed at one location and then left there permanently, they tend to retain the capacity to be moved as it may be a requirement in several areas. This type of housing may go back to early years of cars, as well as motorized highway travel. It has been derived from travel trailer, which is a small unit, fitted with permanently attached wheels and is often used for the purpose of camping. The larger units have been intended for the purpose of dwellings for a number of months or more, as per one location, which came to be referred to as house trailers.
As it is, site-built homes, have rarely been moved, or resold. On the other hand, mobile home owners would often trade, or sell their homes to a dealer, as per reduction on the procurement of a new home. Such used homes have either been resold to some new owners, or have often been sold to the park owners who would use them as cheaper rental units. Single sides have a higher probability of being traded, rather than double wides, as shifting them from the sites is a lot easier.
The major feature of such form of housing had been its mobility. The units were generally marketed to people with a lifestyle, which required mobility. However, with their beginning in the 1950s, these homes began to be sold primarily as a cheap form of housing, which has been designed for the purpose of setting up as well as the capacity to be left in a place for longer periods of time and even for permanent installation with a masonry foundation.
Many people, especially those who are not in a position to afford a normal site-built home, or may not be having any desire to commit towards spending a huge sum of money towards housing. Such people began to see these factory made homes as a viable option for the purpose of long-term housing requirements. The units have often been marketed as a sort of alternative for the apartment rentals. Yet, the tendency in terms of the units would rapidly depreciate as per resale value.
