If you are currently operating a business or establishment that has more than one floor and you do not currently have a working elevator, you should know that you are missing out on a very important factor.
If you do not have an elevator, you limit your client base and send a very negative message to your costumers or potential customers. Of course, you may not realize you are doing this, but it is important that you educate yourself on the various reasons why having an elevator is so important and then take steps to correct this missing on your part.
Elevators were originally intended for use by those individuals who are handicapped or physically disabled in some way that would prevent them from going up and down stairs safely or at all. Without an elevator in your building, you make it impossible for guests with these types of issues to use your establishment and then eliminate a large portion of your potential clientele. You also send the message, most likely unintentionally, that you are not considerate of the needs of the handicapped population, and this may turn off those customers who are not handicapped but who care about the needs of impaired individuals.
Today, elevators are also used to send the message that you care about the comfort of your clients – whether they are physically disabled or not. Many healthy people, after a long day at work, do not feel like climbing up countless flights of stairs.
When you provide an elevator to keep them from having to do so, you are saying that you want your customers to be comfortable and happy and that you will do whatever it takes to ensure that this occurs. Obviously then, not having an elevator can be a real turn off and can seriously affect your business and your income.
If, after considering this information, you decide to install an elevator, make sure you do so through a reputable company. There are many requirements for putting in an elevator. They must be up to date on certain safety and health standards, and they must be licensed by the appropriate board or body in your state. Aside from this, they must be served frequently.
This can be a big expense and can take a lot of initial work on your part, but in the end, it will make you money and improve the level of service you give to your existing clients as well as your ability to attract new ones. Those businesses or establishments that are not able to meet these demands and expenses may wish to s eek assistance or, in some cases, to simply opt to move to a one story building where an elevator is not necessary. Whatever decision you end up making, be sure it is the one that will be the most beneficial to your customers and to your business as a whole.
